A lot of electronics involved in the 648. It literally has nothing mechanical. Probably more trouble than it’s worth. Anything is possible though with the right amount of money and fabrication skills and electronic skills.

Agreed, My 140 SD is mint in and out and I want to transplant her. 606 seems to be the swap that will work the best.

For the same money or trouble, a 606 and 722.6 would probably get you the mpg you'd get from 648

I'm in the auto business and come across the 0m 606s and can get them. I like the w 140 a lot and wish it was a Euro model factory 606.

You'd literally would have to have the shell of that W211 Mercedes and swap over every single electronic bit.

W210's are notorious for lack of electronic parts interchange, the W211's have to be worse.

Just buy a wrecked W211 and go to town.

The w210 is actually a piece of cake and you don’t really need ANY electronic from the w210! Use the mechanical pump from your 603 on the 606 and bam it will run and work. The w210 is a really simple car and so are the electronics. Don’t buy a w211 unless you wanna pay someone for a lot of programming and the confusion and mistakes you’ll make.

I promise once the swap starts and into it at some point your car will be going to the scrapyard with the w211 swap. Not worth the time and effort.

Didn’t ROLLGUY give up swapping a 648 from an ‘05 CDI 211 into a gasser ‘05 211? It’s still a lot of work. It’s not plug-n-play.

I’ve read of stand-alone 722.6 controllers. Is there Megasquirt for DI Diesels?

Yah the PCS tranny controller works great and then you can go with Baldur's standalone controller if the stock ECU is not enough power.

The 606 is widely used in swaps due its electronic simplicity. To swap an om648 however, you need someone to develop a stand-alone ECU for the om648. Or get a job as an MB dealer tech, and spend years training on the inner workings of the computer systems.

Argon your info is out of date.

The 648 in my 83 wagon runs on a factory ecu and key. For those seeking more power, Baldur's didi 1 is in fact a stand alone ecu for the 613/648, available here: https://controls.is/shop/DID1

Very cool, didn't realize one was on the market already. Thanks for the link.
