Sick of leaky 300D - Waterproof cover?

Hi,
My 1983 300D, leaks when it rains, into the trunk, wheel wheel areas, and
behind the passenger seat. Hard to tell where leak comes from, and pricey to
take to my mechanic to try and repair. I'm thinking of just getting a waterproof
cover to throw over it when it rains. I see 5-layer covers on Ebay for $45.
They say waterproof, but then it is a confusing description.
Doesn't have to be great quality, just waterproof. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Its a trade off. A completely waterproof cover will ruin/discolor the paint if there is moisture under the cover and left in the sunshine. That is why you see all the "breathable" claims on high end covers.

Some good writeups on where the source of leaks originate from on the w123 series. Most fixes are diy.

Mine leaked everywhere. I feel your pain brother.
-Hinge pocket seams
-Multiple missing Firewall grommets and hood cable grommet
-AC fan motor (through AC condenser, under wiper cowl)
-heater core (antifreeze)
-Front windshield gasket
-Rear windshield gasket
-Rain gutter trim (possibly coupe specific issue)

Oh, and the wheel wells were rusted through into the rockers, but no water was making it into the footwell.

I was fortunate to have a garage to store this in while I repaired it. Otherwise, I would have had to do the same with some sort of cover.
