Question Custom Or 'Vanity' License Tags

I see the photo upload is broken yet again .

? Anyone ever get custom made license tags ? .

I found a place in Germany that makes custom European typ license tags with whatever alpha numeric combination you want and a wild variety of colors, fonts and so on .

They'll even add a little California state flag and bear it you want at no extra charge.....

Some states are rear plate only, Ca. is kinda picky about running front license plates .

I believe they also make reproductions of many other license plates. I have "custom" plates, probably from the same supplier (one of my friends got them for me as a gift).

That is my original license plate number, but it is a reproduction of the CA sun plate from the 80's. Practically indistinguishable from an original plate.

They are super nice quality. They are not cheap, and shipping from Germany does take a while (they use DHL), but I've had plenty of people comment on them.

I have the state issued license plate from TN which says 'CLEMSON.' It's 60 bucks a year to register so I'm not giving it up.

I'm thinking I might tell the state that I need another one because this one was stolen.

I have North Carolina "LANDSPED" plate on the big truck ('02 Dodge/Cummins). They only allow 8 spaces so I had to truncate. I thought of going with "L&SPEED" but I didn't think very many folks would get it. I forget what the premium is for vanity plates here but I enjoy having it. No plate on Mutt as he never sees road use except on the trailer - in fact, there's no place to attach a plate.

As for state issued vanity plates, I flat out refuse to submit myself to higher than necessary DMV fees.

What does PING mean? I assumed it was an abbreviation but I couldn't figure out what it meant.

If you want me to upload the photo for you send me a PM and I'll post it here.

MGC-WGN as seen here: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/392577-magic-wagon-down-no-fwd-reverse-gears.html

Never updated that thread, but the trans had to be replaced. Front pump was shot and since it had 255k on it, decided to have a rebuilt unit installed.

You obviously suffer from a substandard level of self-absorption. Therapy might be in order.

On my old 300CD, the license plate was "OURSLUG". Because what else is slow and leaves a slimy trail?

I prefer Year of Manufacture plates. I was able to find a 1983 Kansas plate "300" for my SD. My wagon has "200".

Regular plates are fine for me.

I have seen vanity plates covered by a dark smoke license plate hider cover . . I'm still trying to figure out that one.

Post Moving Forward

"PING" means I sent you an E-Mail, if you didn't get it, look in your spam folder, it'll be there .

The slush boxes used in our W123's are good for about 250,000 mile, after that you're on borrowed time, I know quite a few have passed 300,000 miles, I was able to adjust & nurse my '83 240D's ailing 117 tranny for couple years before having it rebuilt .

"You obviously suffer from a substandard level of self-absorption. Therapy might be in order. " ~ I see the sarcasm font is broken here..... .

Smile License Plate Covers

Oops ;

I forgot to mention : those smoke colored tag covers are supposedly to prevent radar guns from locking on to the reflective paint, most radar guns don't need to lock onto your plates to give legal reason to stop you for speeding .

The upload is STILL broken ~ I see many other pictures that are *much* larger get up loaded here......
