I finally cleaned out my banjo fitting a month or so ago. After I did it, I noticed that shifting was awfully hard and jerky. I had intended to give the vacuum system the once over ever since but have just not had time. This afternoon while filling up with diesel and checking the oil, I happened to look at the boost switch and immediately noticed that the clear plastic line from the banjo fitting was flapping loose at the brake booster with a torn piece of rubber tubing at the tip! Aha! I drove home and immediately commenced replacing the vacuum hose. It took all of 5 minutes to do and WOW! The think absolutely FLIES now....... I was stunned. It's never been this fast (and you're talkin' to a guy who has two speeding tickets in der Benz in the past year!). So I figure that between the caked up oil/grime in the banjo fitting and the leaky rubber hoses at the boost switch made it shift hard and made the ol' boy dreadfully slow..... now it LEAPS from the dead stop. I am really glad and if your 300D Turbo is slow or shifts real hard, take a look at the banjo fitting and the pressure switch which is right behind the power brake booster on the firewall. It attaches to the firewall with two phillips screws. I couldn't wait to share it with the forum as it made a HUGE difference with my beloved Benz. I am anxious to run a tank of diesel through now to see what kind of fuel economy difference it will make. I hope this helps others, it sure has helped me!
