fill ATF
Hi,
My 83 300D shifts a bit funny at times, as per the usual with these cars, but after checking it today, the fluid is a bit below the min mark, after driving ~5 miles, shifting through all the positions, and idling. Id liek to add a bit more, at least to the halfway mark. My questions are as follows: -How do I fill it? Through the dipstick tube? -Any ideas how much volume is displayed between the high and low points on the ATF dipstick? Thanks very much, JMH |

Yes, go to the grocery store and buy a small funnel, you add it down the dipstick tube. Use Dexron III/ Mercon ATF, any brand will do.
Between low and high is about a quart and a half, add in about a cup at a time (8 oz) and recheck after waiting a few minutes for all the oil in the tube to run into the pan, it will smear over the stick until you wait it out and give problems getting a good reading. Gilly
