ok, that was it, did a 30 mile trip up and down the mountain roads here, and the noise is gone -- thanks for the help, and hopefully the couple of tips i added will be of help to someone

You lucked out to find spacers that fit as is. One of our other Members had to have them surface ground to size when he used aftermarket Axles.

Note surface grinding is not a big deal as they throw the item on a electro magnetic plate/table and that holds it while the grinder does the job.

I have a milling machine at home which would work on non-hardened stuff but no magnetic plate/chuck. When I needed to do something that I could not clamp I epoxied it down and tool thin cuts so as not to rip the item off or heat it enough to un-bond the epoxy.

yes, once i enlarged the inner circle, they fit perfect
