W123 - Did I bypass the power when testing wiper switch?
My wipers aren't working. I got a new combination switch for the column, unplugged the old one and plugged in the new one to test it. I didn't work so I assumed that was the problem.
There are two wires, wired to the switch but I didn't connect those to the new switch because I had read that they were for the horn. But now I realized that maybe that's how the switch gets power. Can anyone tell me if I needed to connect those two wires to the switch when testing or would that have been unnecessary? Thanks! |

Sounds like the wipers were not working before you tried the new switch. I do not know if the two wires you did not hook up relate to the horn or not. Seems strange the horn would hook up in there but possible of course.
No wipers the fault is more likely the relay or the window motor. You need a voltmeter to use or at least a test light. At least in my opinion. To locate where power is lost in the wiper system. |
