HCU Bypass
I am needing a refresher on the HCU bypass. Heat won't shut off so I want to install the bypass, but I'm not sure which hose I am supposed to do this on. I am wondering if I should just put a "U" shaped pipe between the two main hoses coming into the front (the side with all the vacuum hoses). This would allow for full regular circulation while taking the HCU out of the coolant loop.
I hope that by this point you are reasonably convinced that I am lost and in dire need of assistance. Thanks. |

Are you talking about DAS BOOT
If I recall, from the diesel meet, it has the ACC servo. I put a large ball bearing into the hose that is on the passenger side, back of the servo, i.e. facing the rear of the car. If your servo is on the firewall, I would think it is the hose that is closest to the firewall, at the back of the servo.
I still haven't put in the on/off valve I showed you at the NJ diesel meet. My wife has had me too busy on the "honey do" list. I'll try to install it this weekend and give a review. Good luck, JCD |

Hey Jim,
Hows the 77 running? Thanks for the help. So, The cylinder between the HCU and the passenger side quarter panel with the small white cap is the servo? And, of the two lines connecting it to the HCU, I want to block the line closest to the firewall. Correct? |

And yes, Das Boot is the barge in question.

Not sure on your question
The servo has about 1000 vacuum and electrical lines running into the top. At the bottom, it has two, if I remember right, hoses on either side. Kind of a rectangular top, with a round bottom.
Want me to take a photo tonight, If I don't have to paint or move furniture. JCD |

I think a photo would help orient me, yes. I thought that the big black box with all of the vac. hoses was the HCU. Same thing as servo?
