W123 Factory Aircon Compressor Replacement?

After a couple attempts to get the factory installed aircon system on my 1984 W123 300D NA up and running with R12 gas equivalent, the compressor continues to get "stuck" after brief periods of engagement.

I've been reading that there are far more efficient/ newer options for compressors out there and wanted to ask if a specific solution was recommended?

Contact Forum member ROLLGUY. He sells a very well designed and built kit to install a Sanden compressor on a W123 diesel.

If it blows cold and sounds good the compressor may be good. Getting stuck could be an overcharge, moisture in the system or bad expansion valve.

If the compressor is bad, yes do an upgrade and new condenser for efficiency and system cleanliness.

Good luck!!!

It would appear that the compressor is kaput. It's the Delco R4, so I'm sure its not worth saving.

Looks like the Sanden replacement kit is the way to go. What's the difference between Rollguy's and the Klima kit?

Post Rollguy's SANDEN Kits

I've been using his to fairly good effect, I use only the 7 series made in Japan compressors .

I also replace the factory condenser with a larger parallel one .
