1995 mercedes e300 diesel NEW PURCHASE! FINALLY!

my God after years of w 123s and w210s and a couple of w124s....i have finally found my 95 e300. My best friend from high school David has had one since 2001 I have drooled over that car for almost 20 years. Until last week!

I found one! Now it does have a lot of miles at 267K. BUT it has only had 2 owners from new. Owner 1 1995-2005 and 151k and owner 2 2005-2020 at 266k. Tons of service. everything works. A/C totally gone thru. New Michelins. I have never heard an inline 6 diesel sound so smooth not one weird noise. not one ...It is white on grey. Not my fave but since it has not been garaged in 15 yrs the clearcoat is toast. Interior is mint. I could go on.

ANYWAY guess what? NO cruise control. I know this is very common and NO I have not searched the topic for MY car but will. Just wanted to talk about the new ride and how exciting it is to be in a proper well maintained diesel. Pics will follow of course Thx Joe

Congrats Joe. At 290k miles my 95 E300 is still one of the best cars I've ever owned.

Congratulations!

I miss that feeling. We're all chasing that a little bit aren't we?

Better update that current stable.

I am pretty sure since that model has the mechanical fuel injection, it will still have the electromechanical cruise control with the control box under the dash and the actuator on the linkage under the hood. So the t/s steps for the earlier 124s ought to apply here.

On my 94 E420, it was a worn out switch in the control stalk. But it would set every time if pressed stalk down (decrease) to set. Drove it 20,000 miles that way before that technique got flukey and I had to install new stalk assembly.

272k, not a great winter car, so here December to March it's parked. In GA it should be a great year round car.

Congratulations on your purchase! A well cared for '95 E300 can be a "forever" car, in the same esteemed vein in which w123's are held. At 267,000 miles, it's just getting going!

BTW, PM was sent to you regarding the cruise control.

My cruise works after the car warms up awhile. Has been that way for the last 8 years I've owned it. You just have to keep trying to activate. Once it starts working, it stays working for rest of trip.

Also, keep eye on wiring harness, glow us changes and tranny....those seem to be weak points on these. I do like diving mine though.

Well. Seems one cannot snap a cell phone pic and upload it here. So no damn photos. Sorry. But white is a great color for clear coat failure!

Congratulations! I've had mine for about 8 years and use it 4 days a week to drive to work. Of all the things I love about it one of them is that I can change every single light bulb in the car in less than 45 minutes.

Is it a 'Sport Edition' with the LSD? With a set of 4 Hakka's on it my diesel is really really good in the snow too!

beware the glow plug harness - it might still be 'no longer available'. I just plug mine in and use the block heater everyday in the winter.
