Sunroof not closing right
After 30 years, my original sunroof seal got a bit dryrotted and the one corner sort of shrunk up or something and the sunroof didn't want to close right so the last time I closed it, I left it closed until I had a new seal in hand.
At $160, I absolutely refused to buy a Mercedes sunroof seal. I mean....Lexus seals are $40. So I bought a Uro brand "exact fitment" or whatever they call them and put it in. The sunroof doesn't close the whole way now. I don't know if it's because of the Uro seal or maybe the sunroof got out of kilter from the last time I closed it with the original seal in. I was going to take the seal out completely to see if the sunroof will close with no seal. At least then I can take the seal out of the equation to narrow down the problem. And just in case it is, I now have a MB seal on order. Any other things that I should do to get the roof to close properly? Thanks, jeff 1991 300d |

I had to adjust mine on my w124, in the trunk the sunroof mechanism has a white plastic knob and if I remember correctly you pull it out a touch and then go and use the button to put roof where you want it to be closed and then go and push the knob back and its finish position is then set.

Old MB seal better than a new Uro or other type
The new "perfect fit" Uro doesn't fit. Just so you know, the Uro one that is available I think is for the W126. They don't make one for the W124 (nobody else does either except MB) so I bought the one for the W126 and was cutting it down to fit my W124. I did an excellent job of getting it to size but it just won't work right. Money down the tubes so I had to order a MB brand in the end which will be here in a week or so.

We'll take a look at the numbers for the W124 seal, and see if making it pencils out. The tooling for seals can be quite expensive.
