1991 w124 300D

Guys, I got the turbo installed and did the GSXR improvement. ERG is gone. Butterfly valve is wired open, Vacuum boost transducers are gone...now the fun stuff...

The car will only run for about 30 seconds, then dies, acts like fuel starvation. Filters have not been changed yet, but will be today.

I also need to see a good vacuum diagram, as I know I have something not connected correctly.

This is my first w124. I figured it would be a good succession from the w123 I lost in a fire.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

Do a Google search for the following phrase: "om60x essential vacuum routing." The first image that comes up is what you want to do.

Everything vacuum related on the passenger side of the engine compartment should be gone. Check for leaks, open lines on the driver side.

Unplug the vacuum line at the shutdown pod on the injection pump and try running. If it is plumbed incorrectly, its possible that as vacuum builds in the system it's actually shutting the pump down.

Found them, thanks! As soon as I get a day off, I will trace the vacuum lines.

I got the car running! It was not a vacuum issue, but rather the under the hood stop lever was dropping down and killing the car.

I wired it up to not be able to be pushed down. Well, when I tried to shut the car off, it would not. It is now working properly, but if you barely push the lever, it will shut off the car.

My question now is, is there supposed to be an external return spring on that lever like the w123 used?

The return spring is internal on the M pumps these cars use. Probably what happened is someone replaced the shutoff vacuum pod or the O-ring on the stop lever shaft and now the stop lever shaft is not meshed with the linkage correctly. There are threads on this forum how to fix the issue, when I had it I had caused the problem when I replaced the O-ring on the shaft. I fixed it by fishing the shaft back and re-capturing the pin on the linkage. Use vice-grips on the lever if you do it this way, if you push the shaft into the IP body you'll have to take it apart to fish it back out. The stop lever should be nearly vertical when the engine is running and should not feel "sloppy".

Ok, it is vertical with the engine running, and is very easy to push down, with the engine running. A little more resistance when the engine is not running.
