Yes, that is so however I often see here comments that a thing can only be done one way and that's simply not true .
I've been adjusting tapered roller wheel bearings for 50 + years and have not had a failure yet . A dial indicator is nice and all but hardly necessary so proper bearing clearance adjustments . Annular CV joints are held in place by 8MM star or Allen bolts and *do* indeed need to be properly torqued but no, a competent mechanic doesn't need a torque wrench nor vise to do it properly . The most common fault (IMO) is using too short of a tool ~ this means you can be pulling as hard as you can but still not apply the proper torque . As always, my tech advice is free and worth less than you paid for it, part of the knowledge thing is gathering as much as possible then sorting through it to figure out what will work best for you .

I have used 5200 for decades and it is an amazing adhesive but it dries very hard and is not particularly flexible.

CVJ is the best.
Use 303 Aerospace Protectant to treat the boots every 6 months to help prevent cracking. |
