W123 A/C best PARALLEL FLOW CONDENSER

Have any of you put an upgraded condenser in? Did it improve your A/C? What is the best one? I found this one online... https://klimakit.com/product/parallel-flow-condenser-upgrade-kit-w123-2/

Does Peach Parts have a good one?

yes, and yes

Best one is one that you can make fit.

I'm in the midst of converting my 87 300d to a parallel flow condenser. I'll let you know how it turns out.

That Klima condenser is pricey ($285 w/ shipping), but does have the correct fittings in the correct places. Personally, if fabbing new hoses anyway, I would get a generic parallel-flow condenser which costs ~$50 on ebay and come in many dimensions. I put one in my 1965 Chrysler recently. Most have today's standard fittings (#8 O-ring in, #6 O-ring out). You can put the M-B fittings on the other ends of the hoses.

Particularly makes sense if changing to a Sanden compressor. In that case, drop the bizarre hose routing that M-B did in our cars from compressor to condenser (under and up right side of engine, across to frame w/ multiple fittings) and just run straight to the condenser. That will eliminate the clutter which makes accessing the alternator bolts so tough and rid the gunk collector bracket on top of the upper oil pan.

if you're replacing the condenser, get the biggest one that will fit from ebay, I paid less than $80 for mine

I'm mostly concerned with easy fitment and improved performance. I'd easily pay the $285 if it is an easy install and noticeably colder air.

The condenser on my 87 is in pretty rough shape with rust all over the outer frame and dents and debris everywhere. I decided to order a 90+ condenser which acomodates the dual aux fans.
I ordered apdi 7014502, $69 on newegg. It's supposed to be tube and fin but what I got in the mail is parallel flow. It has all the mounting points and fittings to install into a 90+ w124. It's not great built quality. Some of the mounting holes for the fans were missing and had to be drilled out. But it's holding a vacuum so I'm going to install it. The. One of the lines from the condenser needs to be modified otherwise it should be plug and play.

I did the cheap eBay one for something like $50. The whole thing including the step down hose and R134 cans cost me $120 if I recall correctly. It was a worthwhile upgrade that dropped my AC temps by quite a bit.

See post #154. I didn’t mention the size. I used the size Rollguy suggested. It was a good fit. Not too tight and not too loose. I felt like I got a big enough condenser yet there was still enough room for the hoses. For the life of me I didn’t mention the dimensions. You may be able to guesstimate it from my photos.

Here is Rollguy’s post. He says 16x20”

Can anyone tell me how to actually order stuff from Rollguy? I've been through dozens of pages about his awesome products but can't figure out how to order. Thanks!

Nice score! I googled the APDI 7014502 and pics do show the typical tube and fin.

Would you happen to have pictures of your condenser and maybe the packaging too?

The condenser pic is in post #3. That's what came in the apdi 7014502 box. Looks nothing like what I was expecting.

You should probably wait until I have mine up and running. I have my doubts about the build quality.
