240D OM6166 dipstick length

I'm helping a friend with his "new" w123 240D with OM616 engine.

According to the dipstick there is too much oil in it, but the dipstick does not seem to be original.

Can someone measure how long the original dipstick is, from the top to the top mark and the distance between the marks.

Rob

Mine is an '81. It has the single tube vacuum pump, the newer style pencil glow plugs, and the older turn knob to raise idle. The dipstick has the brown handle and measures 19 3/4" and 21". That is from the plastic surface that meets the metal tube to the V shaped indents. I think different lengths have different color handles.

Thanks!

He's got an '82 that should be the same.

It is a bit of a puzzle to find out what the previous owners have done in 40 years.
The vacuum works again, a previous owner had broken the axle of the VCV.
