Engine ticking noise

Hi
I need some urgent help, had my 84 300d on the highway last night and it seemed that the main belt in the engine has been cutting the oil house that goes from oil filter to radiator cage, so it caused some leak that drained most of the oil, when I reached home I found about all this and started to hear this ticking noise that wend away when I added 1 gal of oil so it is ok when idling but the sound increases with acceleration under load, is this serious, should I tow the care to shop, or it is some adjustment that was missed up because of lack of oil, thanks.
