If you can tell that the turbo is working then yes that is good news. I suspect the ticking is in the upper end (cam/cam followers). I guess the easiest thing to do now is to check the cam bearings and insect everything real good. The other critical area is the crank bearings. If they had been destroyed I suspect you would have some drivablility issues though.

If the turbo still works then you must have NOT lost oil flow to it. Did your oil pressure ever go to 0 bar with the engine running?

Watch your oil consumption.
