How much torque?
I am still trying to gather in all the info I can on changing engine mounts. Someone on here told me that I do need a specific torque on the mounts but didn't tell me what it was. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

You really don't need a specific torque on them. I'd say around 50 foot pounds would be fine. Just don't strip those recessed allen head bolts!

Forget what I said earlier. Spec on the main engine mounts is 130NM, (96 ft pounds). This is for my W124, your specs may vary slightly.

Hey thank you very much! I am going to talk to my neighbor today about borrowing his torque wrench and his jack and a piece of wood (for the engine) lol kidding about the wood.
Now let me get all of this straight, so I don't have a car fall on me... I jack the side of the car up that I am replacing the mount. In my case it's the passenger side. I'd use my mercedes jack in the plug? And not very high so I don't get out of the range of my other jack for the engine. Before I can jack the engine up I'd have to take the front belly pan off (I'll probably clean it off and inspect everything under there to make sure it's all OK and no problems are there or going to be there soon). Then now unbolt the mount? or jack the engine up first....

As odd as it sounds, you do need a piece of wood. At least for the 617 engines. To change the mounts on these engines, you disconnect the engine shocks, then the motor mounts. To actually lift the engine, you place a piece of wood between your floorjack and the oil pan. This is just to prevent damage. You actually lift the engine by the oil pan. You have to keep an eye on the radiator fan and the upper radiator hose.

Do not get under your car with only the Mercedes jack holding it up. You can use it to get it up then use a stationary automotive jackstand to hold the weight. Don't you have anyone with some experience to mentor you on this ---LIVE ? Your first time could be your last ,,, not a happy thought.... check around the neighborhood... many people like to direct others working...

Well I could have my old man help me, but he's like "I'd rather take it to the shop and have them do it" I said F#*K that for 125 bucks I'll do it myself! I've got some neighbors that are willing to help me.
How far do I need to jack the engine up?

Only just enough to get the motor mounts out. Obviously, you can't raise the engine too far, due to the radiator hoses. Just take the engine up slow and only enough to knock the old motor mounts out.
