A/C Oil Capacity

What is the oil capacity for the AC system on a 190D 2.2 (84). I have not been able to find any such information. I believe that a compressor rebuild has 4-6 oz., but I cannot confirm this.

Help.

If you know what compressor is installed on this car, you can go to aircondition.com and scroll down 'til you see "D's Technical Pages." Click on it, then scroll down to an area of pull down boxes. Pull down the box and click on your compressor make. It will give you the correct capacity for the application. On this page you can also find refrigerant capacity, and other valuable information.

Good luck,

I am really glad they put that warning in RED... it is very important... and I hear people being very casual about the amount of oil they are going to add, put in, etc.... Everyone should read that warning.. and I think it pretty much makes my case for flushing anytime a system is opened up...

OK,,, under " single component" they actually said just that.... :p

leathermang,

Good Catch! I went forth ASSUMING that he wanted to know system capacity. It is important to note that system capacity is for a DRY system. The only way to have a dry system is to replace the filter drier and flush the remainder of the system.

Have a great day,

Question Which is it: R-12 capacity for 617.951 85 300SD?

The aircondition.com guide shows a capacity of 54oz R-12 for my 85 300SD. The radiator mount sticker shows 2.9 lbs (46.4oz) for both the 126/123.

I suppose I could always add the 46.4oz and then put in 5.6oz more if aircondition.com is correct.
