MB did make a 24v six cyl diesel. I'm in Europe right now, and I see them all the time, but never in the 124.

I have seen some 124 3.0's (both turbo and non turbo) which we dont get over in NA. I'm guesing its just the SDL motor.

Search the archives for K & N filters -- somebody did dyno tests and actually found that the OEM air filters produce more power, and cost 50 dollars less. Also, the K & N's let in more dirt and grit. I was thinking about a K & N filter too, but this thread really dissuaded me. Search for it, you'll find it very interesting.

I'm just curious, because burnouts are not really anything anyone considers unless they have a truly hot car with a really powerful engine. Not only is it dangerous for your engine if you don't know what you are doing, it will also shred your tires.

I'm only 20, but try not to get too hyped up in seeing just what your car can do.....pushing them to their limits if you aren't real sure of what you are doing is not a great idea.

I just turned 20 and I've owned my 300SDL for almost two years. Why can't a 17 year old own a 300D?

You misunderstand me -- I had a 300D as my first car when I turned 16. My point was that as tempting as it is to see just what these cars can do, its a better idea to take it easy on them and let them last. Unless of course you are modding the hell out of it, in which case I say let her rip.

I was just making a point about doing burnouts and otherwise pushing the car as hard as it will go. That's fun until you start realizing the damage it does to the engine and the other performance parts.

I love to see younger people driving benzes, I think it makes a rather nice comparison point to the rice burners you see around. But the mercedes imparts elegance as well as performance, and burnouts generally aren't something they are made for. Except for the huge engine coupes.

I'm just reflecting back on the abuse I put my first car through, and trying to impart a little hindsight. Please don't see this as a judgment call in any way.
