Parting Out 2.2L 190D
I am probably parting out my 1984 190D, 2.2L engine. The engine was just rebuilt and has only about 1,200 miles on it. Also all the clutch parts, including master & slave cylinders are brand new. Tranny is in excellent shape. My cousin has already spoken for the carpets, seats and the driver's door. Oddly enough, despite all other damage, the doors are fine. the color is white and it shines like it came off the showroom floor. I will attempt to attach a photo of the "OUCH" later on. Anything that was in the trunk is probably demolished, I can even get the spare tire out at this time. I did have a special tool (Hex) cut that will fit between the body and the tranny to check the tranny fluid. That will probably become available also. Blauplunkt radio is spoken for. I only have one light assembly still intact, Front/Right. The Rear/Right assembly has cracked lens, but may be restorable. So, let me know your offer for whatever parts you need, and I'll have the crew at the Fab Shop at work dissassemble my baby, and we'll crate it and ship it.

Do they still have no speed limit in MT?
How fast did the 190D 2.2 allegedly run when piloted by a close friend who's name you forgot? Ken300D |

Hey what color is your car? I might take your front passenger door if it's the blueish silver. Mine's got some rust right at that plastic trim on the outside. I could use that door, that right headlight assembly and the vents as I mentioned before. And if your Cruise control actuator and amp were working b4 the wreck I could use those as well. How much would I owe you for this stuff?
Thanks, Nate

The cruise control didn't work when I got the car and 2 MBZ mechanics told me that it wasn't worth fixing because the new one would break soon too. Some of those parts didn't make it back on the engine after the rebuild anyway.
The car is white. Yours is a nice looking car. Is yours auto, or 5-spd??? Mine is 5-spd. When I got off active duty and was driving back to california from DC, my roommate got it up to 90 thru Mississippi!!! Fortunately, I had Alaska plates, so the cops didn't swoop down on me as if I had NY or CA plates. (Ha Ha) "Whoa dude, Montana really does have a speed limit" is the new bumper sticker around here. I think its 80 mph. On the local road, its 70 in daytime, 60 for trucks, 60 at nite. Normally however, I shut off A/C for on-ramps!!! The engine was very strong in first gear and it didn't even wince pulling a load of ceramic tile that was so heavy I thought I'd snap the rear end!! It easily cruised at 70 - 75, but I didn't measure 0 - 60 in seconds, but rather minutes!! Will I have to disassemble the entire dash to get the vents out? What about the switches on the center console? Won't you need those? Or how 'bout the climate control? The prices will be directly related to the amount of aggravation associated with removal. The window motors are good also, they all work, but can't get to sunroof motor due to crunch in trunk. I also have rebuilt compressor (rebuild from Mercedes) for A/C and new evaporator/switches, alternator, brake rotors (I put all new ones on car when I first got it and pads have only been changed once. I believe I also have 2 new front calipers. I can take off the whole assembly and mail it also. |

That center vent is very easy to get out. Take the vents themselves out (I used a pair of needle nose pliers with a rag between them and the vent plasic) and carefully pulled them out. Once you get those out you will see screws on the bottom and you take those out (it will drop the whole console below it). For the vent on/off switch you have to take an allen wrench and unscrew that so you can get the center housing piece out. The switches simply unplug, careful not to break the mounting plastic for the switches, my sunroof switch pushed into the dash so I had to hot glue it in place. This is how I know the dissassembly of that. I would appreciate the switches with that because mine are all hot glued to my vent housing.
Well the right (passenger) headlight housing would also be nice, if it's not peeling or cracked too bad. I would ask for the wheels, but they are going to be pretty expensive to ship. My climate control push button unit is fine for the time, but if you don't mind giving me that as well (mine probably will eventually die on me) that would be nice too. My car is the automatic model, pretty slow, but shifts very nicely and acceleration isn't TOO bad. I tried racing a Z28 off the line and didn't get beat as bad as I expected, for having over 3x less horse power I would say I did pretty well. I also took on a little sunfire, she got ahead of me, but on every shift I gained on her and my balls are bigger and I kept going, so of course I won. Then a 3000GT saw that and tried to catch up but couldn't! Once you get all that stuff pulled let me know what your asking price is. Thanks a lot!
