The glow plug light on my '80 300SD appears to work normally. It will light and a buzzer will sound for a few seconds then go off. You can then crank the car. But occasionally the light and buzzer will come on momentarily while the car is being driven. Any thought on why this occurs?

Maybe check the ground connections on your instrument cluster, and/or the glow relay system...
Or it could mean one or more bad glow plugs, or a glow relay on the fritz...But it normally would be a more consistent flashing if that were the problem. I'd check for good ground connection first. Mike

Seems like my '79 300SD did the same thing without the buzzer. Then after a while the GP stopped working. Engine started but I had to crank it longer.
How did I fix the problem? I R&R the GP cable connector where it plugs into the GP relay a few times. Viola, problem went away. Its worth a try. P E H |
