Replacing Transmisson in 300D (W123)
Hi y'all
I probably did a silly thing, and got myself a used trans for my 300D without inspecting it (read: Ebay). I am thinking that the replacement ought to be for the most part, fairly straightforward. If someone thinks otherwise, I would encourage you to say so. So far, I am thinking I can do this myself at home, in my driveway. thanks! -Larry

Replacement is fairly straightforward, you need the car about a foot off of the ground to get the trans out from under the car. As I am sure you already know, it is HEAVY, so doing it on the ground, you'll want to have some sort of jack under it to keep it from falling to the ground. If you have an air compressor, you are going to want to try and flush out the transmission oil cooler. If the old one had a internal metal breakdown, all of the metal pieces get into the oil cooler and will get pushed into the new trans....
