Dumb Question, but where is the signal switch located?

Hello all;
The signal lights on my 1983 300D started acting oddly. On occasion they just stop working. The fuse is not blown. Then, on a humid day, they work again. That sounds like a dirty switch. However, after looking thru my Haynes manual I cannot find where the switch is located so I can disassemble and clean it.
Where is the damn thing?
As well, my dash lights stopped working about the same time. Any connection? I removed all fuses, cleaned everything up, used dialectric grease and sealed everything up well. That has worked in the past when I have had electrical items stop working. This has to be simple - providing one knows what they are doing.
Any suggestions?
Regards
