Dumb Question, but where is the signal switch located?

Hello all;
The signal lights on my 1983 300D started acting oddly. On occasion they just stop working. The fuse is not blown. Then, on a humid day, they work again. That sounds like a dirty switch. However, after looking thru my Haynes manual I cannot find where the switch is located so I can disassemble and clean it.
Where is the damn thing?
As well, my dash lights stopped working about the same time. Any connection? I removed all fuses, cleaned everything up, used dialectric grease and sealed everything up well. That has worked in the past when I have had electrical items stop working. This has to be simple - providing one knows what they are doing.
Any suggestions?
Regards

Are you asking about the relay that gives the intermittent turn signal flash or the switch that starts the process. If the flasher relay, believe it is under the dash up behind the instrument console. Suspect that the other item is at the end of the turn signal 'stalk" that you move to select left or right.

It's under the center wood console or the wood shifter surround as they call it.
Carefull remove the ashtray, and remove the fram behind the ashtray (held by two screws) and remove that metal frame.

Now carefull pull back on the wooden shifter surround taking care not to break a plastic pin at the back of the shifter surround.

It should be under there... if you can't locate which one it is just play with the hazards/turn signals and listen to the one that ticks and ticks.
