Just got my '87 SDL back from the dealer. They got the trap oxidizer replacement done after about 4 weeks +. No complaints as they gave me a free new loaner car for the duration (a Toyota). Talk about service ... this is a 15 year old recall!
The car seems to run better; however, after 4 weeks it hard to A/B it - and between driving the Toy - real zippy and the 500HP+ hot rod, its a bit tough to step back in performance.
For you diesel heads out there, a couple of questions. The service manager at the dealer told me the following:
1) The european ECU will give me 40+ more HP. (Maybe someone has the chip?)
2) The EGR and / or intake system most likely needs decarbonning ... something he said I did not want them to do as the last one they did cost $3K!
Just wondering about your comments. The SDL has about 150K on it. Just about ready to take the car to get painted (silver was a real mess in the 80's - this one is no exception). Needs a front bumper - afraid to search it out - I am sure many $$. Everything else on the car in VG condition. The car has been in the family since new.
All the best!
