That's very interesting. I'd like to know how many of those 265k miles were done with that turbo on. Anyone drive one of these?

I know someone that put turbos on their 240D's back along time ago. They were long gone before I came around so I have never seen one in person, just heard about them.

uhm.... they could at least have cleaned it up and taken the junk out of the trunk before taking pics. I would like to see that turbo setup a little better too.

I would personally consider this car nothing more than a parts car.

If you want a car with a turbo, I absolutely believe you would be better served with a car designed with and for a turbo.

To me, putting a turbo on an automatic transmission 240D would be like putting a saddle on a Pig! Pigs are great, but they were designed to make bacon and ham, not to ride.

For $500 it would be a good parts car though.

My $0.02,

I agree that putting a turbo on a 240d is not that great of an idea. However, my interest is related to a 307d motorhome I have in the UK. It has the 616 motor. I think that putting a turbo in that vehicle is a much more interesting proposition. I have no intention of doing it but I'm sure there are lots of van owners in Europe who would be interested. Someone just sold a Mercedes camper van on Ebay and adding a turbo to that vehicle would solve a lot of high altitude horsepower problems.

Unless one could figure out how to retrofit the oil squirters which are used on the turbo 300 (but not the non turbo) I would not feel confidant about it... of course they may have the boost set low enough that it would not matter materially...
