euro versus the bug eye. despite the fact that mine is the one with euro lights, i still really really love the old bug eyes, espcially with the hella conversion like justin has.

I like the concept of "Two old cars whistling past the graveyard." Nice cars, nice choice of venue.

Actually, I like the face-on-face comparison between the Euro lights and the DOT lights. I actually like the DOT light setup better, although I still want to do the Hella conversion on my 300D...then all I'll need is to get the fog light lenses the same color

MAN ALIVE those are two beautiful looking cars...Eric especialy, I drool over your TD every time I see it (especially 'cause I really wanted a wagon)...I wish I could get my 300D to look half that good

Cemetary

Peyton, you hear it enough, but beautiful car. After a couple of more years of reading this forum, maybe I will feel brave enough to buy an early 80s TD to be stable mate to my 98 E300 TD.

Is that cemetary on the same hill that the Phillip Morris stacks (best recollection would be on the opposite end of town of the 'West End')are on? I had an apartment for a very short time directly across from Havana 55 in the Bottom when they first restored it in the early 90s.

thanks everyone

thanks for the compliments everyone, very much appreciated and especially reinforcing - there are times i question the sanity in keeping my wagon due to expenses and whatnot. she really isn't worth all that much. also she looks better in pictures than real life, as the scratches and slight blemishes don't show up.

-Jamie - Peyton thanks you for your attraction she's a girl by the way. i kinda see her as a 43 yr old woman with class. she would like to meet you too! perhaps one day she will. she thinks your car is hot too.

-engatwork- LOL Funeral? no, we just thought the cemetary, as morbid as it sounds would be a nice venue for car photos.

-123c- no ghosts, sorry, but some TLJ

-Warden- thanks a lot for your compliments. your 300D can look that good! these cars have so many layers of paint, just give it a nice buff and wax!!! maybe repaint the wheels yourself. that makes a nice difference! your car is still just beuatiful.

-narwhal- good eye!!! yes this is Hollywood Cemetary in richmond virginia, right on the James River. it is absolutely ENORMOUS and very historic. a wonderful place to walk around with a gorgeous view of the river. the phillip morris stacks are just down the river, maybe 2 miles. yes you were probably in the Tabacco Row apartments perhaps? They are now renovating the old Phillip Morris building into apartments so all the big old cigarette factories will be apartmetns now along the canal.

Thanks again, ill post some more pictures soon!

Eric

Yowsa!

Hey, Eric-

Thanks for posting all of our pics- especially the ones of me looking incredibly bleary-eyed and hungover!

But really, the cars look great. You all should have seen the looks we got driving in formation through Richmond, just after a wax job. Pretty funny stuff.

Cheers,

Justin (jas2wa)

I'm not quite so sure on that...see attached picture. I heard once that a good body shop could do something about it for about $500 or something like that, but I won't be able to do anything about it for quite a while...this was done by the previous owner, BTW...but for "only"$2K, I can't really complain, eh?

I also need to re-do the interior (either get good seat covers, or better yet, replace the stock leather with cloth or MB-Tex)...

Hey Warden:

Best way to deal with the fog light fade is new ones from FastLane or TheBenzBin. (Hint - Prices can vary)

OE Fog lights had metal reflector assemblies and a glass lens. When they get old the seam between glass and metal leaks, and the reflectors rust and fade. I mean they literally rust/rot away.

The new Bosch Fog lights are beautiful all-glass sealed units.

I considered searching for used - glad I didn't - would have been a waste of money.

Wow, two GREAT looking cars!

I like the very close-up, nose to nose, nose to tail, etc...It's sexy...almost like "car porn"!

OK...I geeked out on that one...sorry.

I love the black on the 300D as well...the '82 my girlfriend just got is very dark blue...almost black. VERY nice cars, guys!

Mike

It's not fade; the lenses are actually different. One's a clear lens while one's amber. I think that one of them got broken and a previous owner got one out of a junkyard...heck, I don't even know which one was stock, or which one works better. I will say that I was originally wanting to re-wire the fog lights so that they were more like a second set of high beams, but after using them in fog, I want to keep them just the way they are!! (except for being the same color). It would be nice ot make it so that they didn't automatically turn off when I turn the high beams on (switch forward), though...

Unfortunately, someone on this site E-mailed me a while back about doing a trade, but my E-mail server took a dump and his message was permanently lost before I had a chance to respond. I don't remember who the person was, to boot

Here's the front of the car, with the mismatched lenses...

And the picture flatters the car quite a bit, although I still need to try and wash/wax her (hopefully without drenching the rear passenger's side footwell, but I think I've finally fixed that one)...

BTW, if you're wondering about the Texas plate, this pic was taken before I got the car...actually, so was the other one...I need to get the car looking as good as possible and get some good "new" pics of it

thanks

Thanks for the kind words, Mikemover- I agree, the nose to tail shot is kinda kinky, eh?

Must admit, I got a little artsy fartsy with that one...

Warden- Throw a coat of wax on that 300D and I'll send you a matching foglamp!

Cheers,

Jas2wa
