I'm not sure. I'll have to check when I get the chance. I got this code of an EPC report someone ran for me. The dealer can run one for you. Alec, Would be nice. Ha, Ha. Been there.
Mine now are 14 and 16. 494 = California version. Mine does not run. It has a rod end sticking out of the block, right next to the starter. Am in process of finding new interior. I would like to find 89-later style seats to put in. They are findable, but not in palomino. Wil rebuild the engine this summer after I build my garage. Bought the car on eBay and had it shipped to Michigan.

I was wondering if there are Calif and federal versions of the SDL. I guess there are. Mine doesn't have the 494 code. Carfax begins at ~90K miles in Arizona in 1994.
My 81 SD had the European delivery/tourist code. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD

Calif. SDL code 494
I have 86 300SDL I purchased new in 86 and I have the orig. window sticker with codes. Code 494 is Calif. Emission Control Equip. Code 043 is Mandated Calif. Diesel Emissions Warranty ($350. mandated option - covered for 10yrs or 100,000 miles. This included the trap oxidizer and turbo. I don't live in Calif. but warr. was good nationwide.
