Cool manual recommendations?

i have a 84' 300 CD and enjoy DIY projects. it seems there a few different manuals out there, which ones do you prefer and why? i don't do anything too heavy duty, like tearing into an engine, but i fix my own vac problems, change oils, etc. thanks all.

The Haynes has a reputation for good pictures... but is not complete on subjects.... so the Factory Shop manuals added to it would be a great combo....

Theres lots of CD manuals available on Ebay. I was skeptical but mine have proven very worthwhile. @$10-15 for a set. The only problem is getting grease on your keyboard....:p

all cd manuals are pretty much the same,

Just to be clear, all cd manuals are pretty much the same, since they are the pirated versions of the MB factory manuals that are sold through MBUSA.

I have one from MBUSA and one from ebay. Quality is the same, but one cost $118 the other closer to $18.

Maybe there are some video CDs that describe specific repairs. The concept seems a little dumb, since the factory manual will basically in on shot tell you how to do everything possible on your car- direct from the source.

In addition to haynes, which is OK for the money, there are MB publications titled TDMs which are technical data manuals. They may be a bit specification/trivia oriented but if you turn into an enthusiast, they are worth the $35. Basically, these are 4in by 6 inch manuals one inch thick that describe dimensions, torques, permissible wear limits, etc for a range of models.

I hope this clarifies things...

Grease on computer:

Place Saran Wrap over key board. This is used by a lot of restraunts.
I have CD, Haynes, and factory manual. Plus I print any article on this board. I now have 6 3" binders filed. Name the subject and I have info on the 123. Thank god and the moderator for this GREAT BOARD. Oh yes thanks Part Shop.

Mark,
The CD's I got were from Ebay user ID "gearya" Shoot him an email at gearya@sfu.ca The quality of the material is quite good and looks even better when printed out. Works through your web browser when loaded and pops pdf files for each section of requested info. Simple to use. RT
