Engine Swap in 1992 300SE W140

Posted this in teh tech forum, so aploigies if you have seen it twice..

I want to put a diesel engine in my 1992 300SE W140

Am I correct in assuming that a straight 6 diesel will replace teh straight 6 petrol

I ma located in Ireland where gas is $1 a litre so I need hte economy.

I know the performance will be much less.

Thanks for any advice.

The first question to ask is what is the difference between what you can sell your car for and what you'd have to pay for a good running 300SD. My guess is that you will spend more in a swap than you will buying the car you want to end up owning.
