why are my windsheild wipers posessed??

Sometimes when I turn on my turn signle, adjust my headrests, turn on the a/c blower etc etc the windsheild wipers will wipe once. This also happens at startup often, more noticeably when it is very cold, and sometimes they will swipe twice. What's up with this? The car has a new battery and alternator, so i dont think it's the charging system. Also, on a differant note, my starter is taking longer to engage. It never has a problem turning the engine over, and this happens more often when hot. You turn the key over and a couple seconds later the starter engages and starts the engine just fine. Although i have noticed it takes a little longer to start than it used to. I have a feeling my starter is going bad, but how much time do you guys think i have?
thanks,
Ryan

Ryan,
My 84 300D does the same thing. I posted a question a few months ago and no one came up with any solutions. Looking at the wireing diagram I leaning toward the ignition or combo switch.
My other electrical problem is with the horn. It sometimes just stops working while I'm driving around, but will start working again after a shutdown and restart.

bad Ground!

Coudl very well be a bad ground. For some reason the wiper system is most susectable to a bad ground in the system.
In my motor home and my 300D if some piece of electrical equipment is not connected correctly or in the case of the 300 if I plug a cb radio into the cigar lighter and key the microphone the wipers go off for one cycle.
Took me a while to figure out that I was talking on the radio at the same time that the wipers went off. I thought maybe a bad switch.
It may take you a while to start chasing down ground wires but keep at it and I bet that's what it is...
