Clutch adjustment or bleeding? Sticking transmission on my prize 83 240D

Do i have inproper Clutch adjustment or do I need bleeding? The Sticking transmission on my prize 83 240D is driving me crazy. I have
1. bleed the cluch several times
2. adjusted the shift linkages
3. Changed the engine mounts
but my tansmission still sticks and binds. Obviously the transmission may be dead or worn...

I am wondering if anyone knows of a Clutch Adjustment Procedure or Clutch Master Cylinder adjustment like the one in Haynes, whether they have tried doing it and whether ther is some other adjustment for this problem.

I've never heard of standard shift transmission going sour.... Have you checked the trans.oil lately? It takes 10-20W egine oil or type A automatic transmission fluid, according to the shop manual. Possibly its been incorrectly filled with 80-90w oil for awhile.

Does the tranny make any whirrring sounds while idling in neutral that go away when you press the clutch?

What are the symptoms of the clutch.... is it not releasing, or releasing at bottom of pedal? Any chatter in throw-out bearing?

My clutch pedal sometimes went dead, loosing all pressure, and the problem ended up being worn out pressure plate and throw out bearing..... I didnt find the problem until after replacing slave and master cylinders and flush/bleeding the system several times.

One more thing, did you bleed the clutch up from the brake slave on the front wheel?

There should be allot in the archives on this too. epically the clutch part. I am along ways from an expert but I have 3 running manual 240Ds and they are all a little "sticky" side to side. If you pull up the shifter boot you will see the bar that the shifting linkage slides side to side on. Maybe a little "white" grease on that ? On my wifes "79" the sticking is boarding on getting annoying to me. Same sticking? I dono
