Exhaust Buffer

I lost the last exhaust buffer, at the end of the muffler sometime. I got a couple from FastLane to replace it & have a spare & tried to put it on tonight. It wouldn't push on & there isn't a space above it to pull the little rubber nipple through with pliers!! How do I go about putting this thing in? The only thing I could think of was to use a jack to push it up really hard & hope that does it. I haven't tried this yet because I need to find my bottle jack to do it with. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Try using some talcum powder on the nipple as a lubricant. do not use oil as it will break down rubber. The jack idea sounds good.
