83 300D passenger side central locking?
Should I be able to unlock all the doors by unlocking the passenger side door? My 85 190e does this. I wasn't sure if I could activate the central locking from only the driver side door. If I put the key in the passenger side door it won't turn... I really don't want to force it.
No big deal, I just like to open the door for my wife. Jim

Jim,
You should be able to unlock the passenger door with the key in the door. It does take a little more effort because you are overcomming a spring in the system. The 83' has a vaccum operated system. The drivers door has a switch, the others are servo's. Michael

Right. I understand that. Should unlocking the passenger door unlock the other doors?

Nope,
Using the key on the passenger door only by-passes (pops) the locking mechanism. It will not open any other door. So, your wife will have to break edict and unlock your door after you have helped her in the car=0) Michael

I was wondering the same thing when I got my 1985 300D. I was the 2nd owner and had theowners manual. When I looked in the owners manual it told me how using the key in the passenger door would NOT open the other doors.
