Question Trip Odometer

Just got the Tiger Tank back from the shop a couple of weeks ago and it was time to fill her up. Filled up (@1.86 btw, $.03 cheaper than premium unleaded) and pushed the button to reset the trip odometer and - nothing- . The gauge didn't mover a smidge.

I just had the outside temp gauge replaced and the clock rebuilt. Is it possible that something was not aligned properly when my mechanic reassembled the dash? He said "no" but offered to take a look at it for me, the next time I have it in for service. Was wondering if there was anything I should try myself meanwhile ? (like look for an odometer activation switch on the dash - sorry inside joke)
