Need HELP....Oil Filter Housing
When changing the oil, I could not get the oil filter cap stem to go all of the way down. It appears that there is some sort of gasket/spring in the "tube" that the oil filter stem goes down into, that has come disoriented. It won't come out and won't go down either.
I'm stuck.......Help. JCD |

Figured it out.....................Sheeeeeesh
Evidently a gasket from the bottom of a previous oil filter came off and got lodged in the tube where the stem fits.......
I fished it out with a coat hanger.......got all of it. Amazing thing is that it was not the filter that I just took off........it was at least the last one that was 3,000 or so miles ago. WHAT A SUNDAY.....I love these cars. JCD |

I had always used Mann
It must have been a Mann filter that had the problem.
I switched to Hengst. The bad news there is the rubber gasket that came with the Hengst did not seal the housing cap. I had to use a left over Mann gasket after the Hengst gasket leaked......yuk. What a mess today........ JCD |
