Under dash fuse?

Problem: dash lights not working.

I checked the fuse under the hood, ok.

Under the dash is a small (1.25 inch x .5 inch) black fuse looking thing. It has the number 009 545 14 28 on it. is this a fuse? All it has is a small silver metal post about a 1/2 inch long sticking out, not like any fuse I have seen. If it is a fuse, how do I check it? What else could be the source of my no dash light problem? Rerheostat?

Thanks You

I only found this site a few days ago and already it has been a great help!

How long have your dash lights not been working? I am assuming you get no light at all, not just dim.

I would check the dimmer (potentiometer, I believe is the actual name). These are notorious for not working well. All of mine have been a problem.

Some members have had to replace the dimmer or wire around it.

Nothing comes to mind about the fuse like black piece. Perhaps you could post a picture. I'm sure someone could identify it.

Have you tried turning the dimmer back and forth a few times. It is the same button as the reset for the trip odometer. Many times this will get the lights working again. There not great, even when working correctly, but I have found them adequate.
