Question Need some input on a 210 Diesel

My Dad is buying my '95 E300 so I have to replace it. There is a '96 E300 with 97K that I've found locally but I haven't had much experience with the 210's. If anyone has any input on what to watch for I'd appreciate it. Since this was the first year of the 210, were there any problems that need to be addressed?

Thanks in advance.
Munsey

Thumbs up DIESEL 210

LOOK FOR A 1998-99 TURBO AND YOU WILL BE A LOT HAPPIER, IF YOU WANT ANY KIND OF TAKE -OFF SPEED.

The 210's in general seem to have some annoying quality issues. Get something with a long Starmark warranty if possible. Mercedes doesn't offer a service manual for the 210 so DIY repairs will be difficult at best.

And I agree with Ronnie. If you want any power, get the 98/99 version - huge power gains. They can also be chipped to crank the power up if you want! The 96/97 have the same engine as the 95, nice motor, but a little weak, no power tweaks available since it's non-turbo.

Thanks!

Thanks for the input guys. Here's a link to the car.

'96 E300D

I'm not too concerned about the power. I've got a lead foot anyway and the '95 I'm driving now does a good job of keeping me in line . I've test driven it twice, and except for the tranny needing adjusting for smoother shift (I had to deal with that on my 124) the car feels nice. It's amazing how different the rack and pinion is from the recirculating ball steering. Both feel good...just different. I checked the records and called the dealership where it was bought and serviced. The 90K was performed last June and the service writer said the records indicated that it had been maintained exceptionally well. All in all, I think I like it. I'm going to start dealing with them tomorrow and see what happens.
