Well, I tried my best not to post this, but...

A dreaded vacuum question.

Well, I have a Mity Vac and decided to get crazy tonight.

I figured everything out except one thing.

Here are the two lines that won't hold a vacuum.

The Yellow (which I know runs to the distribution block in the drivers door).

BUT, here is my main issue for you all, and it is embarassing for me to ask, but what is the Gray with Yellow tube?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have spent two hours under the dash trying to look at it, and spent another hour reading through all the searches and looking at my manual.

I know the information is somewhere, it just is alluding me!

Thanks guys,
PiP

Grey Yellow vacume tube

Perhaps the headlight adjustment vacume tube? Not sure if 123's had that in 77 though. Or if US spec lights were remotely adjustable.

126 Views and no one can answer this question???

Someone here has to know.

It is on the tee with the Yellow door lock tube.

It is a gray tube, with a yellow stripe and it runs under the dash by the steering column.

Anyone?
PiP

edit:thanks for answering Peter, but I dont think the car has that.

PiP:

Gray with a yellow stripe? Thats new to me, although I've not dug around much in W123s.

The yellow line will go to the driver's door and to a vac reservior, usually under the left front fender. If it is leaking or there is a bad connection, you will have no door locks.

Try checking just the yellow line -- if it holds and the locks work with the MitiVac, you probably have a leaking vac tank, and I assume that is where the line goes. Check the rear bumper for a tank, too -- some models have one back there, and if the line is broken, no vac.

Hey, it took two of us and about six weeks to discover that if you leave the top fitting of a filter cartridge in the water purification system the standard cartidge (without the removable adaper) won't fit.......!
