Manuals? Which to buy?
As a brand new 300SD owner, I am eager to order maintenance and repair manuals. Would prefer to do it on eBay. Any suggestions as to which are the best manuals? What about those on CD?
How come some manuals on eBay getting lots of bids, but others no one touchles like the plague? Thanks a lot in advance. Bud |

On the 123 I think the Haynes and the Factory Shop manuals do a good job together... but on your car I do not know...

For my 123s I typically just use this site and my factory CD manual. I also have the chilton's and haynes versions but rarely use them.
As for the ebay thing, you never know with ebay. I've sold something have it fall through and sell it for 1/5 less the next time.

Factory manuals on CD or hardcopy are your best bet. Get hardcopy if you can. The CD interface and scans are terrible.

Agreed. A set of paper manuals is the best, but very expensive. The factory CD-ROM is second best, but annoying to use. Only use the Haynes as an extra reference tool, or for the pretty pictures. The factory manuals stack up to about 6 inches tall, compared to Hayne's one inch. You do the math... :p

I would really like to get a used factory paper set, think it is possible for under $30? I'd imagine it must cover a LOT more than the cd as the cd doesn't seem to cover much at all, I like to see those pictures of how things come apart and the torques you put on the bolts.

Plan on $200-$400 for a set of paper manuals. There are several - engine manual, chassis (usually 2 volumes), electrical, and climate control. THey are NOT cheap, and since they're out of print, the prices used are normally higher than when new!
