Transmission

Will a tranny from an 84 300cdt [722..315] fit into and work properly into my 82 300sd[722.303]. My tranny is toast and I have a line on this other tranny. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Stu

It'll bolt up but you can't drive a W126 incudtive speedo with a W123 tranny's gear drive. You can swap tail housings but it might not be worth the savings.

Thanks for the info. I would be getting the whole car. Is the tail houseing where the speedo drive is and if so I have changed those on domestic cars. Is there more to it like drive shaft lengths or is it just a straight swap. thanks

Shouldn't be any more to it than that. At most you'll have to retain the neutral start switch of the SD.
