No one knows!

I am looking for mine too! It is not where the top hose goes from the engine block to the radiator, unless it is like my Citroen Xantia -mounted in the top hose, engine block end. In another post it was mentioned as being near the turbo. Back out into the snow to find it -the heater is too cool for the 0 deg C, 32 deg F curent temp here in the UK. Did you ever find yours?

Regards,

Phil Thomas

Right side of engine, above alternator - you will see the housing where the big hose goes into it - that is the thermostat housing.

There were two housing types made. The original one is no longer made and if you need to replace the thermostat and yours still has the original housing you will need to buy a new housing too but if you get the PN off of the housing a dealer will be able to tell you if yours is the new one or the original one - there is also a VIN cutoff after which the new one was used too I think. It costs around $25 to replace the housing to the new one, if needed, IIRC.

Yeah, my car's been running on the cool side lately too... I reckon' a new T-stat is in it's future...

The Russian site is showing the following part numbers:

605 203 00 75 - Old thermostat.

602 200 00 15 - New thermostat.

603 203 04 74 - Cover.

It doesn't give an old versus new number for the cover though...

Found it!

The thermostat housing is, facing the engine from the front, at the front of the engine, on the right, down at the bottom, near the turbo. On mine, a '99 E300td estate, I had to buy a new housing as well. Incredibly in my area, the third largest in the UK, it had to be ordered in. Apparently it is because it is so old........................And it has a 30 year Mobilo warranty!
