Is it possible?

I have vacuum (some). I have no vacuum gauges or tester and don't really want to buy any. I'm cheap!

The car (82 240D) will not shut off, the brakes are hard, the auto tranny barks a tire when it makes it first, and only, shift (talk about whiplash). What do I check? By what I have read on here it seems as though I have a significant vacuum issue.

Would a vacuum malfunction cause the front seal (tranny) to blow? She is leaking tranny fluid!

I am stumped on this. I have done some searching here but I can't seem to find my problem(s) on here.

Could someone give me some good technical help? Please?

Dead vac pump or serious vac leak in the main vac line.

Get a MitiVac hand pump, it is more than worth the $35 or $40 it costs, you will know for sure what the problem is pronto.

Vac line can be replaced complete only, you cannot get separate bits.

I'd bet you need a rebuild kit for the pump.

check the fitting in the vac pump that the big vac hose connects too, there is a check valve incorporated into this fitting, they have a habit of coming apart which causes a no vaccume or very little vaccume condition. the fitting costs about $30 and is much cheaper and easier to replace than a pump. if it has come apart, you will need to remove the pieces. i just remove the fitting and use a short piece of stainless steel aircraft cable with some sticky "dum dum" or "plumbers sealer" stuck to the end of it to fish out the pieces. i know alot of vac pumps have been replaced just because this fitting is bad. good luck.
