149,600 and counting. Got it with 122,000 on the clock. I put between 90 and 120 miles a day on it during the workweek. Not much of a choice, have to go to Tampa to make any decent $$$

The Warden 07-31-2003 10:20 PM

My 300D has 241K miles, and I've driven it for about 18K of those, I think.

My F-250 (6.9l Navistar diesel) has 214K miles, and I've driven it for 15K of those. :)

I know, both of them are babies... ;)

diesel don 07-31-2003 10:28 PM

You can see my miles below. We've put about 105k on them since we purchased them. Four daily drivers going to five by June 2004.

Can't help bragging a bit

I'm new to the diesel realm (just bought '95 E300D with 140K) but you don't have to have a diesel to get high miles. I just retired my '89 Mazda 626 turbo, first new car I ever bought. It had just over 300,000 miles. Original turbo, never opened the engine. Timing belt every 60K, plugs about every 50 - 75K, oil change every 3K with dino. Still running fine when retired, the electrical gremlins were getting to me.

Just goes to show that a well maintained car, gas or diesel, will do the miles. 'Course it's gotta be decently engineered and manufactured in the first place too!

Rgds,
Chris W.

rob_frick 07-31-2003 10:58 PM

I just rolled over 200k on my daily driver, my 1980 300SD.
My wifes daily, an '82 300D has 335k on it, and my other SD, an '83 has about 240k on it. My son is driving my '80 300D with over 320k. We all laugh at what most people consider high mileage. I wouldnt hesitate to drive any one of my cars coast-to-coast right now.

this is a mix...

the 91 Sentra SE-R - 151K and does track time a couple times a year - owned since new

the '01 CLK55 is the garage queen - no rain! - 6,800 miles - bought Jan 01... it's about $200 every time I open the garage door ;)

the 84 300SD was my mothers - she put 180K - I've added just 1K and a friggin' lot of money into it! oh well - the diesel stuff is some pretty sick fun! :D

My '91 Soob has 238,000

My '85 SD has 298,000

My old 300D had 330,000

My bro-in-law's 300SD had 440,000

190D22 08-01-2003 01:39 AM

'84 190D 2.2 158K. I've put 22K of that on it. I just changed the oil today with Shell Rimula 15W 40. It right away quieted up (not as much 'clackety' sounds). She's leaking oil though... Which is going to haunt me forever. Does that leak stop additive stuff work? Or is it a big no no?

My 79 300D has been at 282,000 for 1 1/2 years when I replaced N/A engine with a turbo. Got speedo to work recently, but the darn odometer quit after about 100 mi. So it has over 300k, but not sure where.
The 300SD has 139,000 but it just joined the family about four months ago, so it is still just a young'un :)

The Warden 08-01-2003 04:26 AM

Just curious, where in central CA are you?

turbodiesel 08-01-2003 05:57 AM

Use better gas and it won't ping.

321k miles on my 300SDL - 97,000 of my own.

R Leo 08-01-2003 06:24 AM

How many miles?

More than enough to shock and awe any driver of Detriot iron.

LarryBible 08-01-2003 09:59 AM

Read my signature for the 240D, it had 380,000 miles at engine time.

I also drove my first 240D, a '77 model, to 287,000 before replacing with the '84.

My wife drove a 300TD to a little over 200,000, the fellow that bought it is still driving it.

My $0.02,

1972 W115 220Diesel.

Bought this puppy about a month ago for $2000 with a rebuilt motor and new paintjob. I have spent the last 3 days, and will spend the next week, fixing everything else that is neglected.

I just fixed the odometer ... which had stopped at 64,000 miles. Supposedly, it stopped 5 years ago with one revolution. So one would guess about 200000 miles... though who really knows.

I had it set to 0. Might as well say it is brand new after all the work I am giving it.

Warden, no problem, I am about 40 mi south of Fresno in Tooolare :)

Folks,

I bought my '87 a year ago with about 210K on it. Now has 245K and still running well. I have tried to update a signature with some previous and current vehicles. My 2 "newest" ones just crossed 110K.
