Disconnected cruise control
The cruise control rod connecting to the throttle linkage has been unhooked and the linkage has been stuck under the throttle linkages to get it out of the way. I hooked it back up this PM and nothing happened (the cruise still doesn't work..'83 300 DT) What problems could I run into if I leave it connected? The previous owner did not respond to my question about why it was unhooked. He probably doesn't know. Thinking about getting into the actuator to look for loose wires. Can you buy a used/rebuilt actuator and what do they cost? Also many thanks to those that posted the cigarette butt fix for the tachometer...Works like a charm now(I used a small piece of styrofoam). Do a search on here for cruise control. Somewhere buried in here is a link to Global Development labs. He goes through some trouble shooting procedure. Worst case, you will end up pulling the amp and actuator and sending it in for rebuild. Runs around $250 I think and comes with a couple year warranty.

I think the URL is www.gdl-online.com
Also, I could be wrong, but I thought that they wanted $150 for the actuator and $200 for the amp. |

Heck Warden - my memory ain't what it used to be. You are probably closer than I on the cost estimate. I vaguely seem to remember spending up to $250 to get everything right.

You could put on an after market cruise for under $100. Or you could replace the actuater $200, the controler $250, and the switch $40. Or find a brick $0.
