How hard to change oil pan gasket on1987 300d
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has changed the oil pan gasket on a 87 300d. It looks like it might be a bit tricky due to the crossmember and whatnot infront of it. Has anyone done one and how much trouble was it. It looks like I got a oil leak on the the injector pump side. I can tell you that a w123 seems a bit easier to work on than the w124. Thanks again bob c |

I've not tried the pan gasket yet, but I think it can be done without too much trouble. Tight, though.
Check the IP for oil leaks, too -- unfortunately, the leak on the bottom requires removal of the IP to fix, you cannot get the bottom cover off with the pump installed, so most times it gets left leaking a bit until the IP need to come out for some other reason. Peter

Thanks for the reply,
I will have to clean it all up and look at it real good before I take any action. It does seem to be located below the injection pump. If it is that how much trouble is that to deal with. Thanks again. bob c |
