more acc help needed for 83 300sd
At the suggestion of another member, I will ask the group for help. I am still trying to get the floor heater vents to open on my car. Here is where I am so far. New aux pump, new mono valve, new control unit, tested all vac actuators at the manifold in the right footwell area. Good vac on all lines. I can see the footwell actuator move under vac, but the door des not open. If I open the door with my hand, it stays open intill I close it by hand. I guess my question to the group is , What is my next step? Do I begin to open the plastic heater box to see if the actuator arm has some how come apart. Is It possible to take the heater box apart and put it back together. Am I missing something? I also removed the heater solenoid valves and tested them. They funtioned fine. Any suggestions as to what I might try next? Help please!!!!! steve

I would guess the lever has come adrift, and the only choice you have is to take the box apart to fix it. I don't know how common this is, usually the problem is a leaking actuator!

peter, have you ever taken one apart? I guess I have no choice if I want the kids to be warm in the back seat. I think I may go down to the local mercedes bone yard and look at a 300sd that has the dash out of it, and the heater all exposed. Get an idea what i'm in for. steve
