Is this Sammy that is getting a "heart / lung" rebuild?
No, that motor is out of The Beater parts car. The story with that-- The car has really low mileage (140,000 mi) and really high rust (difficult to even find a point to jack it up from!). :p The previous owner was using it as a daily driver, until 'one day' all of the sudden it started spewing copious amounts of smoke. He still drove it every day, until it failed emission testing and he couldn't insure it. He had compression testing done, and it was lousy, so he figured the motor was shot and put it up for sale. We got it for about $800 US. At the time we had just gotten Belinda, and we knew that we could get a lot of useful and necessary parts off the car (and we have). The big surprise with the parts car was that it had a LOT of power. We expected to barely limp home, but in fact Belinda could barely keep up. I got some opinions from this board as to how/why that could be, but in fact we don't really know what is wrong with the car. We scalped enough parts off it that it was no longer driveable, then we decided we should pull the motor and transmission before they rust where they sit. The bare surfaces (like where the water pump used to sit) were already starting to corrode.

So, not really sure what to expect. Despite the mileage, the car has not been well maintained. Anything is possible. Being an optomist, I'm hoping it's a blown head gasket.

Stay tuned!
