I have a problem with no turn signals or hazzards on my '82 (converted from 240D to 300DT manual).

The fuses are all fine and all guages work with the above exception. When you flip on the hazzards, the red light on the switch comes on but nothing happens with the lights. I keep wondering if I have neglected a plug in somewhere. To be sure, there are lots of loose ends due to the conversion, but I can't seem to locate anything in comparison with wires in my other MB's.

In searching through the threads, many alluded to a short in the hazzard switch but this doesn't seem to be the problem.

Any ideas????

I'm not sure but only assuming because the light comes on in the hazzard switch itself.

I think I'll swap the one from the totalled car into the donor chassis and see if any good comes of it. Thanks for the suggestion

Hazard swith or the actual flasher if separate. My 220D quit flashing (lights came on when you pushed the turn signal lever, so I could run them manually) -- flasher was bad, but it was part of the hazard switch. $60.

Later models are separate, it's much cheaper, but I don't know where it is on the W123. On the W115 chassis, its up above the driver's left foot.

Are you sure it isn't the hazard switch itself?

I was having a lot of weird bugs after installing a new one a couple months ago (the turn signals would blink a couple times then remain on without flashing). Those problems went away after a week and everything functioned fine until yesterday, when all of a sudden if I tried to use my turn signals both sides would flash at once!

I went to the shop today and got the hazard switch replaced and everything works great now...

I guess the moral of the story is a busted hazard switch can cause any number of bizarre problems, so don't ever discount it...

I had the same problem last year - replaced the hazard switch, goofed around with a bunch of other stuff, did not fix it. I turned out that it was fuse - but the break in it was so small that I overlooked it the first time around. -andy

Hi Don.

The flasher relay is under the wooden cover in the
center console,next to the gear shifter.
It lays on its side.

The red light in the hazzard switch is supposed to
come on,this way you know that they are on.

More often than not it's the hazard switch when this kind of stuff happens. They get a lot of abuse in that location, I think that's the reason the 124 has them up by the dash. Make 100% sure the hazard switch is OK before you move on to replace the flasher.

I had the same problem with mine and replacing the Hazard Switch corrected the problem.
